On Wednesday morning, June 20th, we had the privilege of hosting  Dr. Peter Ammon, Germany’s Ambassador to the United States. During his tour, the Ambassador was accompanied by Consul Friedrich Loehr and Claudia Schuett, Deputy Consul General of the German Consulate of Boston. Over the course of the one-and-a-half hour visit, Dr. Ammon had a chance to meet with senior CSE personnel and tour our Cambridge lab facilities, receiving briefings regarding Fraunhofer CSE’s role in today’s most pressing energy challenges.

“We see tremendous potential for Germany and the US to expand our researchers and manufacturing partnerships in renewable energy to address today’s energy challenges.” said Ambassador Ammon.

The German federal government’s support for event such as the recent Fraunhofer, UMass, and MIT Building Technologies Symposium reaffirms that our energy crisis can be addressed through a cross-disciplinary discussion. The symposium included industry experts, policy makers, and academic researchers who engaged in an exchange of industry challenges and responses to proposed solutions.

Fraunhofer CSE Managing Director Nolan Browne noted,
“Fraunhofer is one mechanism to further the US and German collaboration in developing solutions that will build our renewable energy and conservation technologies. This will support advanced manufacturing and create jobs in both countries.”

It’s a win-win situation: more jobs, clean energy, and better partnerships. Fraunhofer CSE looks forward to future collaboration with notable figures like the Ambassador, so keep your eyes open for more exciting news.
