SUPA Presents a Success Story of Start-Up Technology Commercialization at Venture Café

This week, Fraunhofer TechBridge is pleased to host a group of visitors from Fraunhofer Venture, Germany, along with two founding members of a recent Fraunhofer spinoff, Smart Universal Power Antenna (SUPA). Fraunhofer Venture provides young start-up companies with access to Fraunhofer technologies, infrastructure and know-how—thereby driving these companies’ technology commercialization. One such company is SUPA, which has developed a new inductive power supply system technology that allows wireless data transfer and energy supply across mobile devices. The start-up hopes to market and sell this technology for public and commercial use.

Both groups are visiting the Boston area for a week-long tour of the innovation and start-up ecosystem that exists here in the city, during which time they will have the opportunity to meet with local incubators, venture capital firms and other industry groups.

As part of the tour, the team will be dropping by Venture Café on Thursday, June 7th. Venture Café was created to provide a resource for the Boston entrepreneurial and innovation communities, and serve as a nexus for helping innovators and entrepreneurs find one another and collaborate. This event occurs at the Venture Café located at the Cambridge Innovation Center, One Broadway, 4th Floor. Visitors must comply with Venture Café attendance policies.

Join Fraunhofer TechBridge from 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday for a presentation and discussion on how Fraunhofer Venture is facilitating technology transfer through high-tech research and start-up spin-offs. From initial idea generation to start-up formation, the investment managers will discuss their approach to supporting founders, start-up companies, Fraunhofer institutes and investors, which has resulted in 150 newly founded companies over the last few years. SUPA—one such success—will be in attendance to discuss their new technology and working relationship with the Fraunhofer Society.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Venture Café!
